ABOUT US

MISSION - To help individuals live free from substance abuse.

About us - The Refuge Community Family is made up of caring people who live in the Twin Cities. After several years of witnessing individuals and families being ravaged by drug abuse, the community decided to be a part of the change. Over 100 community members came together to start Refuge Recovery Services, which is now called R-Recovery Services. Its goal is to provide a faith-based, client-centered treatment environment for people who want to live sober and be a positive member of the greater community. Our purpose is to provide a gateway to a continuum of our whole-life services that help culturally, spiritually, economically, and socially stabilize participants.

WE PROVIDE

Refuge-Recovery Services is currently a standard and intensive outpatient addiction treatment center for adult men and women seeking addiction treatment. The Outpatient Program (OP) combines substance treatment with faith-based principles. The OPT is a faith-based, cultural-focused experience designed to enable sober and productive living. Eligibility for the OPT is based on a comprehensive assessment. OPT or IOPT may be recommended for individuals who do not require medically-supervised detoxification, and who have access to transportation to our services center. Our Outpatient Treatment may also be recommended for individuals who have recently completed residential treatment (rehab) and are in the early stages of recovery. Individuals who complete the Outpatient Treatment (OPT) at our St Paul Treatment Center will leave with the skills and knowledge necessary to live a sober and productive life.

Our Values

Refuge Recovery is a program designed to help individuals recover from addiction using Faith-inspired principles and practices. Our core values are emphasized within the Refuge Recovery organization. These values are aimed at promoting healing, growth, and well-being for individuals struggling with substance use disorder. Here are some common organizational values of Refuge Recovery services:

  1. Compassion: Refuge Recovery emphasizes compassion as a fundamental value. Practitioners are encouraged to approach themselves and others with kindness, understanding, and empathy, recognizing that addiction is often rooted in suffering and trauma.

  2. Mindfulness: Mindfulness is central to the Refuge Recovery approach. Practitioners are taught to cultivate present-moment awareness through practices such as meditation, mindfulness exercises, and self-reflection. This awareness helps individuals develop insight into their addictive patterns and promotes greater clarity and insight in recovery.

  3. Non-judgment: Refuge Recovery promotes a non-judgmental attitude toward oneself and others. Practitioners are encouraged to let go of harsh self-criticism and judgment, recognizing that addiction is a complex condition influenced by a variety of factors. Similarly, individuals are encouraged to refrain from judging others who are struggling with addiction, instead offering support and understanding.

  4. Community: Refuge Recovery values the power of community and peer support in the recovery process. Group meetings, peer-led discussions, and shared experiences provide individuals with a sense of belonging, connection, and accountability as they navigate the challenges of recovery together.

  5. Empowerment: Refuge Recovery encourages individuals to take an active role in their recovery journey (client-centered). Clients are empowered to make positive changes in their lives, take responsibility for their actions, and develop the skills and resilience needed to maintain sobriety over the long term.

  6. Sustainability: Refuge Recovery promotes sustainable recovery practices that support long-term well-being. This includes developing healthy coping mechanisms, nurturing supportive relationships, and engaging in self-care activities that promote physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

  7. Inclusivity: Refuge Recovery is inclusive and welcoming to individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or religious beliefs. The program strives to create an environment where everyone feels accepted, respected, and supported in their recovery journey.

These values guide the mission and approach of Refuge Recovery services, helping individuals find freedom from addiction and cultivate a life of meaning, purpose, and fulfillment.
